STUMP GRINDING
Stump grinding is a process that involves the destruction of the root plate of a tree after it has been removed leaving your garden space free of any remaining wooded sections of the tree leaving the space usable.

Stumps can take anything upto 100 years to breakdown dependant on ground condition. so depending on what the owner of the stump would like to do with the area in which the tree has been removed it can be a seriously extensive job to remove by hand or even with mechanical machinery. We provide a full stump removal service that would leave your previously unusable area (un-ground stump) free to carry out any task that you may wish and easy to excavate due to the process that is stump grinding leaving an area of small woodchips that can also be used to fertilise your surrounding greenspace
Stump grinding does have both pros and cons to weigh up. Choosing which route’s best for you mainly depends on the plans that you may have in the future you’re your garden or landscape in which you have had your tree removed.

The stump removal process is the more detrimental of the two. It involves the physical operation that is Digging up of the trees and then carefully excavating all the tree’s widespread roots. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of time and powerful tools to carry out this operation. After stump removal, you’re left with a clean slate open to any new ideas you have for your landscape. What’s not so ideal is that stump removal leaves behind a large hole that can be an eyesore until it’s filled in.
Stump grinding is much less intensive. In this case, At Treeworks we use a machine to completely chip away the stump into small woodchips. Grinding is much more effective and efficient than stump removal, however in this case it does leave the tree’s roots behind. If the stump is large, the chip pile produced can also be quite large, but the chips can be used as mulch for other plants in your landscape.
